A Simple Moment

Dear Change Partners + Ministry Friends,

Join me in a simple moment of connection, at the close of what I hope and pray has been a wonderful year for you.

Between now and New Year’s Day, I’m taking time just to reflect on the Lord’s goodness. I hope you will do the same. From the air we breathe, the sun we’re warmed by, the water that nourishes our thirst – hasn’t the Lord has given us SO much? Aren’t we truly blessed to have life and health and strength and another day? I know I feel that way.

Have you heard the phrase, “The older you get, the more you realize how little you knew when you knew it all”? That used to make me laugh, but I can say the older I get, the more I realize how entirely blessed I am by God’s general and particular grace to me and my family.

Looking back from this season of sunshine, I can see the long valley we passed through. I can see that you supported us during the most difficult time in all our 40 years of incredible, joy-producing ministry. When we were at our lowest, you were at your best. As others turned away, you remained steadfast. For that reason you have been a true lifeline. Thank you.

Because of your faith and desire to partner with us, we have 35+ men under roof of an Act like Men Sobriety House every night, hearing the goodness of Jesus and finding the freedom only He can provide.

Those seeking freedom from addiction learn from their 12 Steps, “I came to realize that my life had become unmanageable. I came to believe that a Power greater than myself could restore me to sanity. I made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God as I understand Him.”

Well, every Saturday night we host an open Bible study for all who are seeking to understand the one true God who breaks bondages and sets people free.

We teach from the Word of God who “God as I came to understand Him” really is.

We’ve seen men come to faith in Jesus, declare it through baptism, and strengthen the of bonds of brotherhood with one another. Watch the devotional teaching above from our Act Like Men Christmas Party, lifting your voice together with us and all the men in residency.

So no big funding appeal, just this…

You are dearly loved and your financial support helps make this ministry happen. Staffing, operating expenses, email devotionals, web development, special benevolence to our clients – all possible thanks to the faithfulness of our partners.

Last, the end of my long litigation for defamation is in sight. We anticipate these cases to settle in our favor, Lord willing. Thank you for your prayers. We have seen and learned more than we could have imagined. The truth is coming to light, and the Lord is vindicating us in such a wonderful way that should draw to completion in 2025.

Truly – you are treasured by us because you have stood with us. Thank you for that reality, our joy and fruitfulness abounds to your account. Our love to you and yours as well.

Happy New Year 2025!
