Where Did Jesus Go After He Died?
April 28, 2021 | Ask Pastor James

Jesus in hell? What did Jesus do between the cross and the resurrection. Anyone who says they know for sure the exact details of everything Jesus did between the cross and the resurrection may be exceeding what is written. The Bible only gives us a little bit of light in Ephesians 4:8 and 1 Peter 3:19.

1 Peter 3:18–19
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19 in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison…

Ephesians 4:8
Therefore it says, When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”

Why is Being Good Not Good Enough?
April 27, 2021 | Ask Pastor James, Sermons

This question is sourced in the belief that we’re really not that bad – because we really don’t understand God’s law and how severely we have broken it.

You can’t get 10 seconds or 10 inches into the 10 Commandments without seeing how completely bad we are by God’s standards. Isaiah 64:6 says, “Our righteousness is as filthy rags” in God’s sight. The very things we believe would commend us to God are the things that are most despised in His eyes – because those are the things that make us think we don’t need Jesus.
