The law can define righteousness. The law can demand righteousness. But the law cannot deliver change because the law isn’t the problem – we are. As John 3:16 is to the lost, so is Romans 8 to the child of God. It reveals that victory is possible at greater depths than mere behavior, for God has made a way for change of the heart and mind.

Sometimes we want to change, but we don’t how to change – other times we know the way but lack the want. The actual power to change we find in can Romans 8 is both the desire and the strength. So no matter how you feel, no matter who may have spoken poorly of you, God wants you to know this: There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And that is the best news ever.
